Air National Guard Readiness Center

  • Project targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification
  • Interior lighting that adjusts automatically to supplement ambient light
  • Each work station will have individual heat and air conditioning controls

The Air National Guard has “enlisted” Mona Electric Group, Inc. to construct a new, four-story, 150,000 square foot Headquarters and Readiness Center at Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, MD . The facility will also be served by a 240 space surface parking lot. The glass and steel structure, designed to achieve a LEED Silver certification, will be one of the most sustainable and energy efficient facilities the Air National Guard has built to date. Some of the energy-saving features incorporated in the design include: interior lighting that adjusts automatically to supplement the ambient light, taking advantage of as much natural daylight as possible; storm water that will be filtered and recycled to be used for landscape irrigation; and a green roof. To enhance the comfort of the occupants, each work station will have individual heat and air conditioning controls. The building will also feature an elevated two-story bridge, linking it to Conaway Hall, the existing ANGRC Building.
