David F. McKay


President David F. McKay joined Mona in 1987 and has over 40 years of industry experience.

After coming onboard as a Project Manager for the renovation and expansion of the historic Evening Star building on Pennsylvania Avenue, McKay quickly ascended Mona’s company ladder. He was promoted to Senior Project manager and tasked with the construction of the DC Correctional and Treatment Facility, an 800-bed, high-security detention facility at the DC Jail. With many other successful projects under his belt, McKay became Mona’s Construction manager in 1991. McKay’s leadership capabilities were clear and the company promoted him to Vice President in 1993, followed by Senior Vice President in 1997 and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2003.

As the company has grown to 47th in the nation, McKay is adamant that Mona will continue to adhere to the high quality of service that has distinguished the company since 1966. As President and CEO, McKay’s responsibilities include overseeing all of Mona’s diverse groups, consisting of Service, Construction, Life Safety, Special Projects Group, and Voice/Data/Video and Security Systems, while also overseeing all aspects of the various support groups.

In addition to leading Mona towards increased prominence in the marketplace, Mr. McKay is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Mona and finds additional time to serve on the boards of numerous organizations, including: NECA Labor Management Committee, WBC Board of Governors, Chairman of The Joint Apprenticeship Training Trust Fund, and has been the past Chairman of the Electric RoundTable.

Under Dave’s leadership, Mona has won 53 WBC (Washington Building Congress) Awards, six ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) Subcontractor of the Year Awards, nine time AGC (Associated General Contractors) Subcontractor of the Year award and first runner-up once within the past 13 years as well as numerous other industry accolades.
